Preparations continue apace for this year's Show. Our latest recruit is the American Civil War Society, which is the largest American Civil War re-enactment society in the country. They have been in existence since 1975. They will be recreating both a Confederate and Union Army camp. Throughout the weekend they will be giving displays of drill and firing, as well as inviting you all to explore their living history displays. There will also be special enrollments for children, who can sign up and practice being a soldier in the American Civil War. The drum and fife corps will add to the variety of musical entertainment in the area!
Other newcomers to the Show include Lincolnshire Film Archive, who will be showing materials from their archive in the Heritage marquee; Far Welter'd, the society that showcases traditional Lincolnshire dialect; Wocko the Woodman makes a first appearance in our craft area, which also sees the return of the South Yorkshire Bodgers, traditional pole-lathe turners. The South Lincolnshire Natural Health Group will feature traditional herbal medicines and healing inside the marquee.
There will be the return of some of your favourite World War One exhibits from last year. And of course you can be entertained as usual by the dancers of American West, the music of the Lincolnshire Waites, make your own Victorian-style tile or a corn dolly, bring your archaeological finds for identification, and find out about many of the heritage venues open across Lincolnshire. As usual there will be plenty to keep all the family entertained in the Heritage Area - and all for free!
We still have a few spaces available inside the marquee if you want to be part of the Heritage Area in Heckington 150 – do get in touch. See you in July.
