Well that's it! Another Show done and dusted, and what a Show 2016 was too. We had a record number of exhibitors in the Heritage Area - 51 separate organisations and individuals were there to inform and entertain the public.
World War One dominated, with the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, the Lincolnshire Yeomanry and even a German field kitchen captured in 1916. The WW1 marquee buzzed with interest, with visitors to the Show providing our exhibitors with lots of new information, as well as the other way round. The first winner of the 'Best Heritage Exhibit 2016' was Michael Credland, with his display about the great naval battle of Jutland, in 1916, and its local connections. But for most people the star attraction was the replica WW1 tank, which caused quite a stir when it went into the main arena on Sunday afternoon.
There was non-stop entertainment in our arena, from vintage bikes to Medieval music, Native American dancing, the FANYs and the Lincolnshire Yeomanry. And we mustn't forget our very own travelling showman, David Alexander, who drew huge crowds with his unique style of entertainment.
We would like to thank all our exhibitors who contributed to the unique, friendly atmosphere in the marquees and in the area. We're already planning for next year. As it is the 150th Heckington Show we thought we might have a Victorian feel in the Heritage Arena. Please do come and join us!
